Dress Code for Students
School is your place of business, and learning is your number one job at school. You are expected to dress in a manner that is supportive of a positive learning environment. You will not dress in a way as to distract from the learning process of other students. A complete dress code explanation will be given to you when you register. A brief summary includes:
All clothes should be size appropriate.
Do not wear the following:
· clothing in an asymmetrical pattern such as rolling up one pant leg
· a dominant color every day of the week
· long, bulky chains, large oversized pendants or necklaces (bling-bling), gang-styled belt buckles engraved with old English initials etc. and colored belts not limited to the colors brown, blue, red, yellow, green, gray or pink.
· jerseys with the numbers 8, 13, 14, or 88 (or any other numbers that have been identified as gang related). In addition, jerseys with the old English “Los Angeles” printed or stitched will not be allowed.
· bandanas, altering clothing from it original form to change the names and/or intended marking on the clothing.
· sweatbands and/or headbands, doo rags, draping articles or clothing, towels, or other objects out of pants pockets or over the shoulder or neck area
· students are not allowed to shave their hair or eyebrows in patterns related to gang activity
Changes may be made based on updated information from the Gwinnett County Police Gang Task Force. A list of clothing and accessories, which are not permitted due to their affiliation with criminal gangs, will be maintained in all grade level offices.
The classroom teacher has the authority and responsibility to determine appropriate or inappropriate appearance within his/her classroom. Should the student wear any gang-related clothing, parents will be notified immediately.
Radloff Middle reserved the right to amend and change the dress code whenever additional items disrupt the learning environment.
If you choose to wear distracting articles of clothing or have a distracting appearance, alternative clothing will be provided for you. You will be responsible for washing and drying this clothing and returning it to school.
